Tours and Field Trips
With a permanent collection spanning several centuries and regularly rotating exhibitions of modern and contemporary art, we hope the Zuckerman Museum of Art will be the choice for your next field trip.  The Zuckerman Museum of Art offers free admission and is the perfect destination for a low cost field trip for students of all ages.
In-person, docent-led tours led by our highly trained staff will provide your group with a dynamic learning experience. While we recommend about one hour for a basic tour, we will happily work with you to meet your specific needs. We can also pre-arrange an interactive element at your request (please be prepared to allow for a longer visit.)
Self-guided visits or docent-led tours may be paired with creative, interactive workshops for any grade level to enhance learning in the classroom. Combine your trip to the ZMA with a tour of Â鶹ÊÓƵ State’s gorgeous campus and stop for a meal at our award-winning campus eatery, The Commons.
High school students may take advantage of a variety of extended tours. All 4 academic units of the College of the Arts offer prospective high school groups the opportunity to walk through their classrooms, studios, theaters, practice rooms, galleries, and other learning spaces to better envision what a college experience in the Arts at KSU would be like.
Art + 1 Tours offer high school student groups an extended experience of academic areas outside of the College of the Arts. For art students looking to apply their skills in new ways, they may be interested in adding a tour of one of the following programs: Spatial Mapping in the Department of Geography and Anthropology, Sustainable Design with the KSU Sustainability Program or Department of Software Engineering and Game Design and Development in the College of Computing on the Marietta Campus. More Art + 1 Tours are in the planning stages, so please stay tuned for even more!
Reservations are required for all docent-led tours or self-guided parties of 10 or more.
Lesson Plans
The Zuckerman Museum of Art is committed to supporting P-12 teachers as they work to deliver curriculum and create learning experiences for their students. Our role is to share as many resources as we can to further enable student development and growth. The arts are fundamental to human experience and culture. We strive to be a reliable source of content for educators. We seek to support teachers and students as they learn through the visual arts.
We can provide lesson plans upon request created by museum educators, KSU faculty, KSU preservice student educators, and professional P-12 educators.
If you have created a lesson around any ZMA collection object(s) or temporary exhibition, feel free to submit your lesson to share! We would be glad to publish any ZMA-related lessons or activities that educators in our community have found useful with their classes. For questions and to share ideas, please email Horacio Arias-Rodriguez.
